Another Update

Just got back from monitoring and no contractions this time! Baby Sully continues to move around like crazy every time I am there, so they are happy with that. My blood pressure looked better, but I forgot to bring in my own bp cuff to prove that my bp is lower at home. Oh well. I'm now on modified bedrest that is a little less strict than before, which is great news. I still have to go in 3 times a week, but I will start working from home part-time tomorrow to help bring in some income and avoid using all of my FMLA before the baby comes. All in all, good news :) Bob's mom is flying in today for my baby shower, so I'm sure Bob will be happy to have some extra help around the house.

Today I was telling the nurse about how I think our baby is a boy (no good reasons, just a hunch based on heart rate, how low I am carrying, etc.). She does not know the sex either and actually told me that she thinks I'm having a girl just by looking at me. She deals with pregnant women every day, so now I have no idea what I'm having. She said the baby's heart rate is right in the middle (not on the lower side like I thought it was). I guess we'll find out soon enough who is right!

Update

Here is the latest and greatest on baby Sully: I went in for monitoring on Thursday and the baby looked great, but I was having minor contractions the whole time. I could sort of feel them, but barely (they described it as an irritable uterus). Even though they weren't very strong, they sent me over to labor and delivery just to be safe. I got some test done (can't remember what it's called), but they can basically see with 99% accuracy if you will go into labor in the next 2 weeks. Mine came back negative, so I'm not going into labor! They also checked my cervix and it is still closed.

Today we got to go back for monitoring and I was having contractions again. This time I could not feel them at all. They ruled out dehydration, so I'm not sure why I'm getting them. Once again, the baby looked great and was moving around like crazy.... We even saw the baby working on its breathing during the ultrasound. After the monitoring, we had to wait around for the labwork to get back (Mondays are long) and the good news is that my protein levels only went up slightly from last week. My bloodwork looked fine, so they let me go home. My bedrest didn't really change, but they told me I have to get a wheelchair when I go to the hospital from now on so I don't get to walk as much. Oh well. Stay in there baby!

I'll be back at the hospital tomorrow for my weekly appointment with the doctor. Oh, and the good news is that I will most likely be able to start working part-time from home until the baby comes. I got a call from my manager with the offer and I jumped on it! Less boredom and a little bit of income will help! Just need to get approval from my doctor tomorrow and they didn't think it would be a problem.

We're almost to 34 weeks, so I'm just trying to hang in there. Bob will deserve a husband of the year award once this bedrest is over :)

May be for the long haul...

I went for more antepartum testing today and spent 4 hours there because I had to wait for the labwork to come back before they would let me leave. The good news is that the baby still looks great, but the bad news is that the level of protein in my urine is elevated (sounds fun, right?). I think she said my levels were around 225 and at 300 is when they officially say you have preeclampsia. With my high blood pressure, it looks like that is the direction I'm headed.

All I know is I go back to see a doctor tomorrow and then back to antepartum testing on Thursday (twice a week now). The only good part of all of this is I get a weekly ultrasound and get to hear the baby's heartbeat. Looks like I'm offiicially on bed rest for the long haul and I have a feeling baby Sully might make his or her appearance earlier than September 9th.

So far it hasn't been too bad, but I think that is only because Bob has been around so much. He caught my cold, so we are both lounging around today. One thing that will help keep me happy is that I'm allowed to sit up and paint for a couple of hours a day...that always makes me happy. I'll try to keep you all posted if I hear anything new. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Baby Sully may need them to stay in as long as possible!

Bed Rest :(

Well, I have officially completed my first 24 hours of bed rest. Not very fun, but it could be worse. Yesterday I went in for my regular appointment and my blood pressure would not go down. So, they sent me over to Ft Carson labor and delivery to get monitored. Everything looks great with the baby, but my blood pressure would not come down enough for them, so I am on bed rest! Seriously? I went from working out with no complications to this. I have 3 appointments next week so pray that my blood pressure goes down so they can take me off of bed rest. I was not ready to leave work yet and I was certainly not ready to be confined to the couch all day!

I'm using Bob's work laptop right now, but we're hoping we can get one of our old laptops to work so I can at least play online all day to pass the time. At least this happened at 32 weeks and not earlier! The worst part of it all is that I spent my last day of freedom confined to the bed with a cold or sinus infection.... If I would have known this was coming I would have sucked it up and gone to work.... I'll be sure to keep you all posted after my appointment on Monday. I really hope I have good news, but the midwife did not seem too optimistic that I would be coming off bed rest until the baby is here.

Bob Hard At Work

I put Bob to work this weekend and made him assemble the crib. It is starting to look more and more like a nursery (well, at least one side of the room is)! Here is a pic of Bob's fake smile as he's working hard and the finished product. I'm very happy with our crib and now I get excited/nervous every time I walk by the room :)

Yard Sales

Bob cracks me up! We found a bunch of bargains last weekend at our neighborhood yard sale and it all ended up in a huge mess in the nursery. This morning I walked in the room and just started laughing. Bob had taken a couple of stuffed animals out of the bags and put them in the bouncy seat and on the play mat we bought. It looks like the monkey is really enjoying the play mat and the gorilla is easily soothed by the bouncy seat. The rocker/glider in the background was also bought at a yard sale, but we need to re-cover the cushions (not digging the purple). Anyone know a good place? Or does anyone know someone that could do this for us? I'm worried that my cheap find for a glider will end up costing almost as much as a new one if I can't find someone to do this for us at a low cost :(

We have a crib, but it is still in the box. Once that is up the room will start looking more like a nursery. Other than that, my belly is continually growing! We hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!
