20 Week Ultrasound

Good news!  Little Sully is measuring just right for 20 weeks and everything looks good.  The tech had a really hard time getting a good profile shot because he/she was hiding out in a tight spot and wouldn't move (must have been napping).  The picture below is a profile shot with the top of the head to the left.  I had a really hard time telling what it was at first until I rotated it.
Here is a cute little shot of the future soccer player's foot :)

And finally a 19 week belly shot

We got to meet our new nephew (Gregory) last weekend and he is adorable!  It will be fun for our baby to have a cousin so close in age.  Hope everyone had a great Easter....I'm loving the warm weather.

Brainwashing?

Is it bad that the first thing I made for the nursery is all about Notre Dame? Don't get me wrong, our child will be able to go to any school he or she wants, but come on.....why would you want to go anywhere else?

I am officially half way done with this pregnancy. Yikes! Tomorrow is our 20 week ultrasound and I can't wait! Several people have asked me if we are going to find out the sex of the baby. We (or should I say I) have decided to be surprised. Bob said whatever I wanted since I have to carry this thing. I've always wanted to be surprised, but had no idea I was such a minority. Some people almost get mad at me when I tell them I am not going to find out. Crazy. If my sister, Sara, can have twins without knowing the gender, than I can do it with one baby on the way.

Let the brainwashing begin :) Go Irish!

Our Story So Far

Well, I'm rapidly approaching the halfway mark, so here is a little update on what has happened so far. I found out I was pregnant on Dec.29th, but I still wasn’t 100% convinced since the line was so faint. So….I did what any other rational person would do and took another test the next day and another test the day after that. I didn’t tell Bob after the first test because I wanted to be sure and I wanted to think of a cute way to share the news. So, I waited until the next morning (after the second pregnancy test) and had him open a late Christmas present before I left for work. He was half asleep so I think it took a second for it to sink in what the bear actually meant, but he was just as excited as I was.

It was so hard to keep it a secret, but I kept it from most up until my first official doctor’s appointment. The only way I could trick our friends was to hold a glass of wine at every gathering. Hearing the heartbeat for the first time was amazing and finally reassured me that everything was alright. Bob and I went to our first ultrasound the very next day to see our little Sully. What a cutie…I’m already in love! The baby was jumping all over the place and moving his/her arms up and down for us. We loved this and it made everything so much more exciting!

12 week ultrasound

I am extremely lucky to have absolutely no morning sickness (I feel for others), but I am having issues with my right thigh going numb almost all the time now. Bob and I went for our last hurrah or “babymoon” to the Bahamas for Spring Break! It was awesome and I’m so happy we took advantage of some free time together.

There have been several occasions where Bob and I are just sitting there and one of us will say “Do you realize that we are having a baby?” HOLY COW! It really hasn’t sunk in yet. It was hard to tell at first, but I now know that I felt the baby move for the first time last week. Now I am feeling several times a day, although it is still pretty weak. Our little Sully appears to enjoy poking or kicking me on the left side for now :) Such a cool feeling! I think Bob is a little jealous that I get to feel the baby, but he won’t be so jealous when he can feel it from the outside and I’m miserably huge. Here is my belly progression so far starting at week 15. You will notice that it just popped out all of the sudden at week 17!

First Boring Post

Well, I have officially decided to start a blog! I wanted an easy way to keep everyone updated on all the baby news without having to send mass emails. I always enjoyed reading some of my friends' blogs and this will be a good way to keep a journal of all that has happened (as I'm sure I won't remember half of what happened a year from now). So, now it will be up to you to check the blog to see what’s new. I’m pretty sure by now that all of you know we are expecting our first baby on 9/9/09. I can’t explain the overwhelming sense of joy and anxiousness we feel as reality sets in that we are actually going to have a baby! I can tell you that I couldn’t be happier with how this pregnancy has gone so far and I didn’t expect to have such an easy time getting pregnant. Other than dreading needles and the whole labor process, I am so excited. Hopefully I’ll figure out how to post pictures and keep this thing updated as much as possible. I am now 17 weeks pregnant and my belly has all of the sudden popped out! Stay tuned….
