Happy Birthday, Erin!

Birthday Girl!

Erin celebrated her third birthday earlier this month.  How did my little baby girl turn 3 already?!?!?  She thoroughly enjoys birthdays and was excited to have a princess party, complete with a princess cake and crowns that she decorated herself.  This was probably her last "adult friends" party, as she is quickly making good friends at preschool :)

Here are a few Erinisms from the mind of a 3 year old:

-"I have a frog in my shorts" when she had a cold and needed to clear her throat to talk.

-"Where did the hugging bird go?" Even after we correct her to say humming bird, she told us that we were wrong....it is indeed a hugging bird.

- She named 2 of her dolls Hoonah and Arana

- She has 2 imaginary friends named Erin and Aaron.

- Me - "Erin, we are going to lose our window of opportunity for your nap."
Erin- "Where did my window go?" Thinking the windows were gone from her bedroom.

- She loves to wave and say "hi" to every stranger that passes us in the grocery store.  This girl is not shy!  Erin-"Mommy, why didn't they say hi to me?"  Me-"Maybe they didn't hear you."  Erin- "Hiiiiiii!!!!"

- "Attention passentengers!  The train is going to stop so Daddy can go to work!"

Erin, we love you so much and thank you for being such a joy in our lives. It is truly amazing watching your grow leaps and bounds as you discover the world around you! You are the best big sister to Scotty....he thinks you are hilarious and I can tell he already looks up to you.  We do have our not so good moments (usually during "non nap time"), but we really do treasure every day with you.  You are a beautiful, sweet, smart, outgoing, silly and loving girl and we are so proud to call you our daughter.  Happy 3rd birthday sweet girl!  Love, Mommy and Daddy

Excited to celebrate her birthday!

Sorry, Scotty!

Who says you can't play soccer in a princess dress?  That's my girl!

One tired princess!

First day of school!

Erin woke up extra early and extra excited for her first day of school! No crying when we dropped her off....she was too busy dipping toy trucks in finger paint. I think she will have a great time today! I already miss her, but I'm enjoying some quiet time at home with Scotty :). My baby girl is growing up too fast!!!

Summer Vacation

Our summer vacation was spent on a whirlwind tour of Chicago, South Bend and Michigan.  It was a crazy, fun filled and exhausting trip to say the least!  First stop was Chicago, where we saw many of our close friends and celebrated the wedding of dear friends Arvin and Kelly.  The wedding was gorgeous and we had a blast!

Special thanks to Bob's brother Mike and his parents for watching Erin and Scotty while we danced the night away in downtown Chicago.  I would not have made it through the day of the wedding without help from Nell.  Bob was tied up since he was a groomsman, so Nell stepped in to fill his boots.  She chauffeured me around town, helped me check in to the hotel, moved all my luggage for me, and kept me sane (all while helping me wrangle two kids)!  Seriously, she was my guardian angel for that day!

On our way out of town, we got to see Nate at work.  Erin thinks that Uncle Nate makes the best chicken ever :)  Scotty loved meeting his Uncle Nate for the first time and we were sad our visit had to be so short!

After that, we made a quick stop in South Bend to see Grandpa and Uncle Mark.  Scotty was able to meet his great grandpa and great uncle for the first time.  This made my heart happy :)  Then it was a quick stop on campus in the drizzle for some necessary photos.  Scotty's first trip to ND!

After a bit of shopping at the bookstore with an overtired toddler and a screaming baby, we drove up to Michigan to stay at Mike and Mark's vacation home.  We were lucky enough to have Nana and Pops there as well!  We got two beach days in and some good family time before it was time to head back home. Phew!  I'm exhausted just writing about this vacation, but it was wonderful!  Now I just need a vacation to recover from our vacation ;)
